Reading a digital electricity meter
Taking a reading from a digital electricity meter either to shop around for a better energy deal or just to send the energy company a meter reading is pretty straight forward.
If you are on a single tariff e.g not economy 7 then there will be a row of numbers similar to those shown in the photograph below:
You read the numbers from left to right and ignore the last two red numbers. In this case the electricity meter reading is 73440.
You can use these numbers to provide your energy company with a meter reading or use them to provide a new energy supplier with the latest reading when you switch energy providers
